This F-100D is shown in the paint scheme used by the 416th TFS, 3rd TFW when the aircraft was first used at Bien Hoa Air Base, Republic of South Vietnam, in July of 1966. The nose art indicates that this aircraft was flown by Col. Hal Comstock, who achieved "Ace" status with the 56th Fighter Group in Europe during WW II. This 1/48-scale model shows "slicks" (napalm canisters) carried on the wings inboard stations and bombs with extended fuses on the outboard wing stations.

55-3604-Tuy-Hoa-Sep-1970e Pilot inspecting armament on Hun 55-3604, before mission. The standard load was napalm inboard, 500 pounders outboard and 800 rounds of 20mm HEI. My crewmates were, from left, Ron Elrod, Ron McWilliams and crew chief, Tom Wong. I never noticed until I zoomed in on this photo that the pilot is carrying a 45 (Tuy Hoa AB, Sep. 1970).
