This 1/48 scale model depicts the 1959 paint scheme of the 474 FBW wing commander's aircraft. Revell/Monogram kit with Black Box cockpit details. Color bands are all painted, letter decals are composites from other decal sheets. One of my favorite models. It took me just over 42 hours to build, modify, and paint this model. Painting the titanium burner can section is always a special challenge, since the heat-induced discoloration varies from aircraft to aircraft. For example, if the burner-can section was cleaned just prior to its recent flight, the blue heat discoloration tends to be much more vivid and the burner-can skin panels tend to be much lighter.
