56-3306-309TFS-31TFW-Tuy-Hoa-1970e Hun No. 306, 309th TFS, 31st TFW, fully loaded and armed for alert mission. Alert aircraft had to be ready to go at a moments notice, in case our ground forces were under heavy enemy fire and needed a target taken out. The 20mm guns had the 3rd round charged and pylon safety pins were already pulled, so when the aircraft reached the end of runway they were ready for takeoff. (Tuy Hoa AB, Sep. 1970)
