Restored F-100F, 56-3832, at the Evergreen Museum, McMinnville, Oregon. The following information was supplied by Larry "Brushface". 56-3832 they did a real nice job on it. The aircraft sat at Davis Monthan to the very end almost it was a QF 419 Target Drone rejected and placed in long term storage, from March 1991 till 2003 when EverGreen got it. They took it and 56-3861 to Marina, AZ. Unfortunately, they scrapped 3861 for parts to make one static display of 56-3832. The colors of 56-3832 HS are the Misty FAC Sq Det 1 612 TFS at Phu Cat. You will also note that General McPeak’s name is on the canopy rail, along with General Fogleman. Both are former Misty FAC pilots and AF Chief of Staff. The Misty FAC had only a couple of aircraft assigned with the HS tail code… 99% of there aircraft were HE tail Code, which was the 416 TFS, 37 TFW, at Phu Cat. The Mist FACs had the highest loss rate of F-100F aircraft of any other outfit in Vietnam. As F-100F aircraft were lost, replacements were brought in from other outfits and from the 39 AD Japan… that is how THE GHOST (56-3837) ended up as a Misty FAC aircraft. 56-3837, with the HE 416 TFS 37 TFW paint job, is now in the WPAFB museum. You might also note that the rear seat is missing out of 832 because when it was sent for Drone Conversion… all rear seats were removed form the aircraft and disposed of at the Bone Yard along with the IFR boom.
