Comment by Joe Vincent: I think this photo is of a 31st TFW plane that was used in "Fire Power Demonstrations." That's what the artwork on the tail is. I have seen this identified as a 306th TFS plane. When the 31tst TFW was at Turner AFB, GA they had this type paint scheme with the jagged band around the nose, but they also had a long central panel on the tail painted in the same color. The squadron colors there were 306-green, 307th - red, 308th - yellow, 309th - blue. You can see some of the 307th planes with that scheme under Hal Beasley's page. This one appears to be a mix with a simple colored band and fleet number on the tail. The 31st used that on their F-84Fs - which they flew right before they got the Hun. I suspect this may have been a 307th plane used for FPD. I note that it has what looks like wing commander's stripes around the fuselage. And, it doesn't seem to have a refueling boom.
